Suspect at large in kidnapping case

After a brief pursuit Thursday morning, an Orange man remains at large after getting out of his vehicle and running from the scene.

According to Jesse Romero, of the West Orange Police Department, the man allegedly assaulted a woman at a local business. He then reportedly forcibly put a woman at the scene into a vehicle. The police department issued an Attempt to Locate on the vehicle. Within about 20 minutes, they received a call from the Vinton, La. police the suspect’s vehicle had been spotted. A pursuit ensued and continued back to Orange. The suspect stopped the vehicle at the corner of W. Hickory and Simmons Streets. He got out and took off on foot.

Officers are searching in the neighborhood where he stopped for the suspect and he remains at large. The case is still under investigation. Charges are pending.
