Lamar University will open the new academic year with a reception and convocation for faculty and staff Monday, Aug. 20. Classes begin Aug. 27

Lamar President James Simmons will address faculty and staff, outlining goals

and plans for the 2012-2013 academic year in his annual “state-of-the-university” speech.

Faculty and staff will gather at 9:30 a.m. in the Studio Theatre for an opening reception. The fall convocation begins at 10 a.m. in the University Theatre.
