Amanda Burkett Tregre, 24, of Bridge City, died Friday, Aug. 17. She was born on Oct. 14, 1987, in Nederland, to Sandra Manning Burkett and Robert Murray Burkett, and had been a lifelong resident of the area. Amanda was a devoted mother and step-mother. She enjoyed cooking for her family, staying in contact with her friends, shopping, dressing fashionably, and was very particular about her hair. Many people will miss Amanda’s smile, her charming personality and the warmth she expressed to her family and friends. She will truly be missed by all. We love her more than words say.

Amanda is survived by her husband of five years, Derrik Tregre; daughter, Brooklyn Marie Tregre; and stepsons, Brennon and Brayton Tregre, all of Bridge City; mother, Sandra Rizzato and her husband, Mark, of Port Arthur; father, Murray Burkett and his wife, Renee, of Nederland; sister, Jennifer Reynolds and her husband, Darrik, of Port Arthur; grandparents, Helen and Norman Manning of Yoakum, Linda and Hal Burkett of Nederland, and Beth Braus of Orange; great-grandfather, Douglas Manning of Yoakum; mother-in-law, Suzanne Boren and her husband, Barry, of Bridge City; father-in-law, Brian Tregre and his wife, Sheri, of Orange; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

A gathering of Mrs. Tregre’s family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., with a Rosary recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 211 Hardy Avenue, Nederland.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, with entombment to follow at Oak Bluff Memorial Park, Port Neches, under the direction of Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Nederland.
