Early morning accident claims life of Vidor man

A 22 year old Vidor man was killed early Friday morning in a crash on the Purple Heart Bridge in Beaumont. Billy Wayne Hight was driving a GMC pickup the wrong way on IH-10 when he collided with an 18-wheeler at about 2:15 am. The accident resulted in a chemical spill, and the bridge being shut down in both directions.
The driver of the 18-wheeler, Danny Bell, 61 of Houston, was treated for his injuries at Christus St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, and later released.
