The Record Game of the Week: Bridge City falls to Vidor, 45-7

Last updated 9/8/2012 at Noon

The district 20-4A Vidor Pirates came to visit the District 21-3A Bridge City Cardinals Friday night, and they brought their running game with them. The Pirates rushed for 470 yards on the ground in the 45-7 victory over the Cards'.

The impact player of the game was Vidor's Montana Quirante, #23, who had a monster game on the ground. He had home run touchdowns from thirty, forty and fifty yards out. He even had another 14 yard scamper to make it 4 touchdowns and 250 yards by the end of the contest. He ran explosively, beating linebackers to the edges while displaying great field-vision and consistently finding his way to the end zone.

Bridge City played Vidor tough, but the Pirates running game proved to be too much this time as they had three running backs switch-hitting in the triple-option offense. Justin Moore, #7 (109yds), and Thomas Novak, #5 (80yds), each contributed as well.

Bridge City's quarterback Daniel Faulk, #15, started off passing well. He threw his second career touchdown (and the Card's only score of the game) to wide receiver Colin Smith, #9, and had another scoring pass dropped in the end zone which would have been two on the game. In the end he was intercepted two times by Vidor's Austin Rodriguez, #8, and the Cardinals just weren't able to make it even once they got that far behind.

Look for Coach Stump and your hometown Bridge City Cardinals to bounce-back next Friday when they hit the road against Kelly. Vidor is going to be hosted by Buna.
