Jasper County Troopers responded to a one vehicle traffic accident on County Road 16 in Buna shortly after noon Wednesday.

According to the preliminary report, two minor children were being transported in a Nissan truck by their father, 32 year old, Steven Marks of Buna According to Marks, his 1 year old daughter and 2 year old son were occupying one seat and secured by a single seatbelt. While the vehicle was traveling down the roadway, the 1 year old fell out of the vehicle and was run over by Marks' vehicle.

The 1 year old was transported in critical condition to St. Elizabeth hospital by ambulance. The child later died due to the injuries sustained during the crash. The 2 year old child and Steven Marks were not injured during the crash.
