A Baton Rouge man was assaulted Sunday evening during a fight in the parking lot of the Super 8 Hotel, located in the 2700 block of IH-10. Upon arrival to the scene, Officer Michael Roush made contact with several subjects in the parking lot. They advised that the suspects fled the area in a brown SUV.

While talking with several subjects, a large pool of blood could be seen in the parking lot. Police were told that the victim, Derick Comeaux was inside a room at the hotel. Officer Roush went to the room and made contact with Comeaux, who advised that he didn’t know the suspects who attacked him.

Comeaux stated that he was in the parking lot when the suspects jumped out of the SUV, and began attacking him with nightsticks and batons. He said that when the fight ended, he didn’t know where the suspects went. He also advised that he did not want to file a police report or to press charges.

Comeaux refused transfer to a hospital by an ambulance, but said he would go by private vehicle.
