St. Mary students celebrate Lady Liberty’s birthday
Sunday Oct. 28, the Statue of Liberty will celebrate its 126th Birthday. In 1886 France gave the statue to the United States to commemorate the friendship the two nations established during the American Revolution. Over the years, the statue has furthermore come to symbolize democracy and freedom.
St. Mary Catholic School Student Council wanted to recognize this historical day by paying tribute to this important part of our American History. Liberty Tax made a generous donation to the school by giving each of the students a Liberty crown.
Pictured are students wearing their crowns, with Student Council President Kaitlyn Braquet dressed as the Statue of Liberty.
