Teacher assaulted trying to break up fight

Police officers were called to West Orange-Stark Middle School Friday, Oct. 26, in reference to an assault between a student and a teacher. Upon arrival, Officer Caleb Davis made contact with the teacher who said a student was fighting with another student in the hallway.

The teacher said she grabbed the student, and turned to push the student into the classroom. When the teacher turned, the other student began hitting her in the back of the head, neck and back areas. In her statement, the teacher stated that she was struck with a closed fist more than a dozen times.

Police watched a video of the incident in the principal’s office and it showed the entire incident. The suspect was arrested for assault and assault on a public servant, felony 3.
