Kurt Fontenot, 47, of Buna passed away on Nov. 1, in Beaumont. He was born on Jan. 30, 1965 in Mamou, LA., to parents Sharon “Midge” (Doyle) and Curtis L. Fontenot. He had lived the last three months in Buna, prior he had lived in Vidor.

Kurt was of the Pentecostal faith, and was a member of Pinehurst Pentecostal Church. He was a musician at heart, playing all kind of instruments, singing and writing songs; also was a member of Sabine River Band. Kurt was a loving man who touched the hearts of many and never met a stranger; he will be missed dearly by all.

He was preceded in death by his father, Curtis L. Fontenot.

He is survived by his mother, Midge Flanigan and husband, Derrald of Pinehurst; fiancé, Jeanita LeBlanc of Buna; sisters, Lynn Hicks and husband, Jody of Vidor, Angel Sides and husband, John of Katy; brother, Shane Fontenot and Suzzane Hoffpauir of Orange; step sisters, Julie Spivey and husband, Charles of Vidor, Cindy Herman and husband, Gaylen of Orange; step brother, Don Flanigan and wife, Carol of Orange; numerous nieces and nephews and a host of great friends.

Funeral was held Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012 at 2 pm at Pinehurst Pentecostal Church, with the Rev. Bill Smith officiating. Burial was at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.

Serving as pallbearers were Don Flanigan, Jody Hicks, Corbin James, Robert James, Rod Rodriguez, David LeBlanc, Marcus Teutsch and Shon McDaniel. Honorary pallbearers were members of the Sabine River Band.
