Michael James Cook, 62, of Dayton passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, in Sugarland after an extended illness. Michael was born Jan. 15, 1950 in Santa Maria, California to parents, Edward Christopher Cook and Miriam Noreen Stuart Cook, and was a 1968 graduate of Lutcher Stark High School in Orange.

Michael served in the United States Navy from 1970 until 1978. He proudly served on the Naval submarine USS Andrew Jackson. Michael was retired from Texas Instruments where he was an engineer equipment technician for 33 years. He and his wife Peggy lived in Sugarland for 19 years before moving to Dayton a few months ago. In Dayton they are members of The Trinity Baptist Church.

Michael enjoyed traveling, photography, and was a very talented picture framer. He most of all loved being with his family and totally devoted to his wife Peggy.

Visitation for Michael will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 11, at Trinity Baptist Church, 408 West Clayton, Dayton, Texas 77535.

Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, November 12, at Trinity Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Blackburn officiating. A private family burial will follow at Houston National Cemetery under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home, Dayton.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, brother: Jimmie C. Cook, son-in-law: Stephen Slover and nephew: Alex Cook.

He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Peggy Hall Cook of Dayton; daughters, Dusty Lee Hopkins and husband Thomas of Maine, Anise Michelle Sinare and husband Idrissa of Houston, and Laura Slover of Crosby; son, Chris J. Hall and wife Debbie of Houston; grandchildren, Nina Hall, Rose Hall, Madison Martinez, Zachary Martinez, Holly Slover, James Hopkins, Michelle Hopkins, Jordan Hopkins, and Youssouf Sinare.

He is also survived by his great grandchildren, Kaylee Pena and Laramie Babcock; brothers, Patrick A. Cook and wife Patty of Orange, Mark A. Cook and wife Sophie of Alvarado, Stephen F. Cook and wife Susan of Orange; sister-in-law, Virginia Cook of Dayton, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
