Two vehicle crash in Orange County leaves one dead

A motor vehicle crash on Highway 87 at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge leaves a motorcyclist dead.

At approximately 6 a.m., Troopers were dispatched to a two vehicle crash on State Highway 87 at the foot of the Rainbow Bridge in Orange County. According to the investigating Trooper, a 2005 Pontiac passenger vehicle was traveling southbound in the inside lane (left lane) of Highway 87 and a 2010 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling southbound in the outside lane (right lane) of Highway 87. The driver of the Pontiac stated that the driver of the motorcycle veered from the outside lane into the inside lane for an unknown reason. The driver of the Pontiac struck the driver of the motorcycle.

The driver of the Pontiac, 30 year old, Angel Bowman of Orange, received minor injuries. The driver of the motorcycle was transported in critical condition by Acadian ambulance to St. Mary hospital in Port Arthur, Texas. Fifty-six year old, Brian Babcock of Bridge City, Texas died at St. Mary hospital at 6:51 a.m.

This is an ongoing crash investigation and further information will be released as it becomes available.
