Lorene Moerbe, 91, of Port Arthur, passed away Friday, Dec. 7, at her home in Port Arthur. She was born on Sept. 5, 1921 in Port Arthur, to Herman and Emma Mitschke Rothman. Lorene attended Trinity Lutheran School where she first met her future husband, Curtis. She would say that they went to school together, dated, married, raised a family and she would always be with him. She was very talented at decorating and always dressed with the latest style. She handled herself with class and elegance.

Lorene devoted most of her life to her children making sure they grew up in the church and provided guidance in all aspects of life. She kept up with the latest news, politics, and sports, and often surprised people with facts and detail information. Her most well known attribute was her sense of humor. She was very witty and had a way of having everyone laughing with just a few well timed words.

With all of her social skills she never wanted to be the center of attention, but she would have most of the attention anyway. She is loved, she will be missed, and memories of her will last forever.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Port Arthur with the Rev. Timothy Dinger officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park. A visitation for family and friends will be Monday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves.

Lorene was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis E. Moerbe.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda Schulz and husband, Rolf, of Bridge City; son, Ron Moerbe and wife, Debbie of Bridge City; six grandchildren, Stefan Schulz and wife, Mary, Jared Schulz and wife, Twana, Chelsie Ramos and husband, Rick, Cortnie Schexnaider and husband, Kevin, Kacie Long and husband, Scott, and Kurt Moerbe and wife Alexa; and 10 great grandchildren.

Friends wishing to make memorial contributions may send them to Trinity Lutheran Church, 2400 5th Street, Port Arthur, TX. 77640.
