Vidor woman arrested on public intoxication charges
A 25 year old Vidor woman was arrested Sunday, Dec. 9, after she was reported to be driving recklessly on IH-10. Jessie Marie Magee was parked in the parking lot of the Exxon when police made contact with her. Magee told police she was resting in the parking lot while she was on her way home to Vidor.
After police advised her to remove the keys from the vehicle’s ignition, they observed her to have slurred speech, and that her eyes were glassy. There was also the odor of alcohol on her person. When asked how much she had to drink, Magee replied “probably too much.”
Officer DeVault told Magee to call someone to come get her. Magee stated her mother would be coming from Vidor to pick her up. While waiting the arrival of her mother, Magee became uncooperative, started the car and tried to drive off, striking the officers car and driving toward the building.
Police were eventually able to talk Magee into turning the vehicle back off. Officers ordered Magee from the vehicle to keep her from trying to leave again. When she refused to get out of the car after officers advised her to, she was placed under arrest for public intoxication.
She was transported to the Orange County Jail, and turned over to jail staff.
