Mrs. Arrie Lee Simpson was born on Jan. 1, 1928 in San Augustine, to parents Mary Elizabeth Hollis and Elije Mosby. Arrie Lee was the youngest of 12 siblings. She attended school in San Augustine, and graduated high school in Dallas.

Married to O. D. Simpson for 61 years and mother of Andrea Perry (Vernell), Odell Simpson (Debra), Willow Simpson, Jean D’Aguilar (Gavin) and Linda Aplon (Don). Arrie Lee’s most important role was to raise her children to be decent, respectful and responsible human beings. This job paid nothing, yet it reaped benefits bountifully.

As a young mother, Arrie Lee served her community and church faithfully by leading the Youth Choir at St. Paul C.M.E. Church, carpooling neighborhood children to school and managing the family-owned business for over 15 years. She loved to travel with her family around the US, Canada and the Caribbean.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers, and five sisters.

Arrie Lee leaves to cherish her memories, and family above along with one sister, Juanita Cotton; three sisters-in-law, Etheleen Mosby, Mary Louise Simpson and Berna Dean Jones. She also has 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, and her special loyal companion, the family dog, Cissy Lee Simpson who she gave her middle name.

Services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 15, at 10:00 am, at St. Paul CME Church in Orange. Viewing will be at 9:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation (NPF), www.parkinson.org in memory of Arrie Lee Simpson.
