Attempt to pass counterfeit money unsuccessful

Wednesday, Dec. 12, Orange police were dispatched to the CVS Pharmacy in reference to a forgery. Officer Marcus Bernard arrived on the scene and made contact with the CVS staff. The staff advised Officer Bernard that a white female attempted to purchase make-up, and when she paid, she used a counterfeit twenty dollar bill.

CVS employees advised that they immediately recognized the paper currency to be counterfeit due to it not having the required water marks, and also because the ink was blurred. When a special marker was used to test the paper on the bill, the bill failed that test also.

The suspect then ran out of the store in an unknown direction without any of the items she attempted to purchase.

Digital pictures were obtained, and the on-duty manager advised that video surveillance was operational during the event.
