Firefighters with the City of Orange Fire Dept. responded to a fire alarm Wednesday at 10:15, in the 1900 block of International Dr. The first units to arrive on the scene reported heavy fire and smoke coming from the rear of the residence. Fire crews quickly learned that the family who lived at the home had left the home a short time earlier.

The fire spread quickly to the second story, fanned by strong north winds. It took over 30 minutes to bring the fire under control. The family, who was notified by neighbors that their home was on fire, returned before the fire was under control.

No injuries were reported as a direct result from the fire, yet two of the family members were treated by Acadian Ambulance service for non-life threatening conditions. A spectator at the scene was also treated by Acadian for an injury sustained when they fell on the street and injured their nose.

Although the cause of the fire is still under investigation, it has been determined to be unintentional. Fire crews remained on the scene for over four hours insuring all fire was extinguished and the family was cared for.
