Administrators at Little Cypress-Mauriceville CISD report that police were called to Little Cypress Junior High on Wednesday, Jan. 9 when they were told that a student had a gun on campus.

Law enforcement officials were called immediately and the school’s emergency procedures were implemented. Officers arrived quickly and determined that the gun, although it did appear to be real, was a toy. The student and supposed weapon were turned over to law enforcement.

Any threat is taken with all seriousness by both the District Administration and law enforcement and actions are taken accordingly. LCJH parents were notified of the incident through the District’s automated messaging system. Parents who did not receive the notification via phone or e-mail should check with the campus to make sure their correct contact information is on file.
