A traffic crash involving a Little-Cypress Mauriceville school bus occurred Monday, Jan. 14 at approximately 4:07 p.m. The crash occurred in the 9200 block of State Highway 12 in Mauriceville.

According to the investigating Trooper, the Little-Cypress Mauriceville school bus was stopped in the westbound lane of State Highway 12 when the bus was struck from the rear by a 2007 Toyota Corolla.

At the time of the crash, the school bus driver had activated the flashing stop lights and was preparing to unload school children. There were eleven (11) children on the bus and two (2) children were transported to Baptist Hospital in Beaumont with minor injuries. There were no other reported injuries. The driver of the 2007 Toyota, 16 year old Kailyn Bishop of Orange, was cited for Failure to Control Speed.

State Troopers continue to investigate this crash.
