St. Mary Catholic School seventh and eighth graders participated in the annual Science Fair. Each student does an individual or group project. The purpose of the project is to not only test their knowledge of science, but to practice the scientific method.

Students are instructed to define a problem or ask a question, make observations, search, explore, gather information, evaluate evidence, make a hypothesis (educated guess), test hypothesis and reach a conclusion. Throughout the process students keep a journal to document everything, produce an example and use a display board to illustrate their project.

The winning projects are as follows: Individual - first place, Spencer Johns, Olivia Fuselier, Brent Hebert; second place, Sarah Gonzalez, McCartney Miller, John Hughes, Dherin Wright; 3rd place, John Michael Gonzalez, Nathan Hughes, Brogan Brown, Kaitlyn Braquet, Rae Guidry, Elijah Vigil.

Team - second place, Elizabeth Guillot and Savannah Grant.

These students will go on to compete in the Diocesean Science Fair at Kelly High School, February 22.
