With a tour dedicated to the men and women in our military ranks who help to protect and defend the American Dream, Montana Rep is scheduled to perform Biloxi Blues by Neil Simon, Friday, March 1, 2013 at 7:30 PM at the Lutcher Theater. Tickets range from $20-$35 and are on sale now at www.lutcher.org or by calling 409-886-5535.

Produced by Montana Repertory Theatre, Neil Simon’s hit play follows the adventures of Eugene Morris Jerome and his fellow Army inductees as they struggle through basic training near Biloxi, Mississippi, in 1943. An aspiring writer who sees himself as an outsider observing the craziness around him, Eugene hopes to somehow remain “neutral … like Switzerland.” He spends much of his free time recounting conversations and impressions in his journal, feeling a little ashamed for betraying the “secret and private thoughts’’ of his fellow soldiers.

Biloxi Blues is a comedy about young men going off to war. These men are universal soldiers facing the same fears, anxieties, and loneliness that grip all young recruits about to encounter the ultimate test of combat. Mr. Simon brings his great sense of humor and humanity to every word of this magnificent play.

Now one of the oldest and most respected touring companies in the country, Montana Repertory Theatre was established as a professional touring company in 1968. In recent years they have presented more than 450 performances in over 350 communities from California to New York. Other Montana Rep productions seen in recent Lutcher seasons include Doubt, Bus Stop, and Leading Ladies.

Montana Rep is pleased to showcase the talents of principal actors, directors, and designers with prestigious credits and awards from the worlds of Broadway, national and international tours, film, and television. The company operates under an agreement with Actors’ Equity Association and the University/Resident Theatre Association.

Due to some of the content and language in Biloxi Blues, the company recommends this show for high school aged students and above.

This show is sponsored locally in part by Eye Centers of Southeast Texas LLP and by the Orange County Commissioners Court and Hotel Tax Committee. The Frances Ann Lutcher Theater for the Performing Arts is located at 707 Main, Orange, Texas.
