LCM HS students erase the "R Word"

Last updated 3/11/2013 at Noon

On Thursday, March 7, the Special Olympics team at Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School celebrated "Erase the R-Word Day." During lunch, Team Force (the team’s competition name) and Meet in the Middle Partners, who are regular education students who participate with the Life Skills team, offered the opportunity for students and faculty to sign a banner and receive a ticket for a free "Erase the R-Word" cookie.

The cookies, which were passed out after school due to state dietary regulations, were a joint project; the cookies themselves were made by the Life Skills students and decorated by the Culinary Arts class.

Pictured are Crystal Arteaga (holding the sign), and from left to right, Hayden Wheeler, Dustin Ducharme, Austin King, and Courtney Chauvin.
