Irene Smith Skinner, 79, of Buna, died Monday, March 11, at Silsbee Oaks Healthcare in Silsbee. She was born on February 6, 1934, in Kirbyville, to Velma Singletary Smith and Arvil Smith. She was a lifelong resident of the area and a longtime member of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church of Silsbee.

Survivors include her daughter, Peggy Perry and her husband, Murphy, of Buna; son, Stephen Skinner and his wie, Sue, of Bridge City; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister, Linda Kellum of Silsbee, Nita McBride of Jasper, and Kathy Pressley of Garland; brothers, David Smith of Kirbyville and Mike Smith of Lake Dallas; nieces and nephews; and numerous family members and friends.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carlo; and sisters, Dorothy Kellum and Reba Smith.

A gathering of her family and friends will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 13, at Broussard's, 490 Cemetery Road, Silsbee. Her funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 14, at Broussard's, with interment to follow at Magnolia Springs Cemetery, Kirbyville.

The family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Silsbee Oaks Healthcare for the love and care extended to Helen and Carlo during their time there. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Calvary Missionary Baptist Church, 1360 E. Highway 327, Silsbee, Texas 77656.
