The City of Orange Fire Department held a “pinning” ceremony today at Central Fire Station for two new fire Captains. Captain Shane Chapman and Captain Chad Hall were honored today for their recent success in a promotional examination. Two Captains positions became available when Captain Eric Ridley and Captain Kathy Staudt retired earlier this year.

The promotion process included a basic tenure qualification, written exam, street and hydrant test, and bonus points for tenure. Captain Chapman’s final score was the highest score recorded, and Captain Hall is the youngest person to be promoted in the history of the department.

Fire Chief David Frenzel and Captain Chapman’s current supervisor, Battalion Chief Lee Anne Brown, pinned the gold collar bugles on while his father pinned his new gold badge on him. Chief Frenzel and Battalion Chief Joe Mires pinned Captain Hall’s collar bugles while Captain Steve Allison pinned his badge.

Cake, soft drinks and coffee were served to the guests.
