Louisiana man arrested following traffic stop
Monday, June 10, Orange County Sheriff’s deputies made a traffic stop on IH-10 at about 1:00 am. During a search of the vehicle, the officers located a large quantity of synthetic marijuana, along with a white powder, believed to be cocaine. They also found two 16 oz. bottles of liquid codeine in the vehicle.
The driver of the vehicle was identified as George Woods, 46, of Glynn, La., and the passenger, as Joe Edward Jones, Jr., 36, of Port Allen, La. While the suspects were being interviewed, Jones fled on foot from the vehicle, and into a wooded area adjacent to I-10. Jones was not located after a lengthy search of the area.
George Woods was arrested for possession of liquid codeine (felony 3), and possession of synthetic marijuana (state jail felony). He was jailed, and his bonds are set at $70,000. Woods has posted bond.
Charges against Jones are pending.
