Collis R. Simmons, Sr.

Collis R. Simmons, Sr., 58, of Vidor died Tuesday, July 2, at Baptist Hospital of Southeast Texas in Beaumont. A native of Camanche, OK., he was a longtime resident of Vidor, and was a crane operator with Nordrill Inc. Collis served his country in the United States Marine Corp.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, at Turning Point Church in Vidor, under the direction of Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor, with burial to follow at Restlawn Memorial Funeral Home of Vidor. Visitation will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, at Memorial Funeral Home.

Collis was preceded in death by his parents Dolven and Katie Simmons; brother Collins Simmons, and his best friend Peanut Hargroder.

Collis is survived by his wife Karen Simmons; sons Collis Roy Simmons, Jr., and Cody Ryan Simmons, all of Vidor; daughter Stacie Simmons Grimes of Lumberton; brothers Casey Simmons, and Cecil Simmons both of Vidor, Curtis Simmons of Alto, Calven Simmons of College Station, and Colven Simmons of Vidor; sisters Betty Haynes, Bobbie Johnson, Carol Williams, Sandra Rao all of Lumberton, and Alice Simmons Rachford of Vidor; two grandchildren, Courtney Rene Simmons, and Jeffery Caide Keaton, numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and his best friend Johnny Haynes.
