Representatives from dozens of local charities joined a celebration of corporate citizenship today when officials with Entergy Texas, Inc., recognized the recipients of more than $128,500 in local and corporate foundation grants to date this year.

Additionally, the gathering held at downtown’s Beaumont Event Centre also celebrated the more than $138,740 in matching funds that Entergy Corp. provided to The Power to Care in Texas. The matching dollars are given in response to funds given mostly by Entergy Texas’ customers and employees. The Power to Care program is a trust fund with an independent board of directors comprised of both company and community leaders. The Power to Care partners with local nonprofit agencies to help qualified elderly and/or disabled pay energy bills with funds that come from customer, employee and company contributions.

With the matching dollars given to The Power to Care, the total amount of contributions celebrated here today came to $267,240.

“Investing in our communities means more than providing electricity,” explained Todd Dunkleberger, regional customer service manager for Entergy Texas. “It also means helping our customers accomplish the goals they have for their home towns. It is a privilege to be able to provide funds from either our micro grant program of the Entergy Charitable Foundation to turn dreams into reality.”

Below are the Orange County charities and the amount they received from Entergy Texas:
