Thursday, July 18, Officers from the Orange Police Dept. responded to a disturbance at 570 Lilac, at approximately 10:30 pm. Upon arrival, police found John W. Lee, 38, unconscious in the yard of the residence. He had injuries to his face and head.

Witnesses at the scene advised that Lee had been assaulted by his adult step-son, who had fled the scene prior to officer's arrival. There were several people at the residence celebrating Lee's birthday.

Lee was transported to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital-Orange, where he was pronounced dead.

The step-son, 21 year old Robert Wyatt Walter, Jr., was located on Gunstream Ln., where he was taken into custody. Walter was booked into the Orange County Jail on murder charges.

Walter has been arraigned, and bond has been set at $250,000. He is currently being held in the OC Correctional Facility.
