Explosion reported in Vidor, investigation underway

The Orange County Sheriff’s Office received a call concerning a possible explosion at approximately 10:15 p.m. Tuesday, July 31 in the 1000 block of Pine Cove Lane in Vidor.

Upon arrival deputies spoke to the caller who inside his residence when he heard a loud boom outside. The caller said he went outside and noticed a hole in his yard on the east side of his property which had apparently been caused when the device exploded. He also said that the windshield of his truck had gotten cracked as a result of the explosion.

Upon investigation it was determined that the explosion had been caused by a “sparkler” bomb. Pieces of the device were located near the hole in the yard. No one was injured as a result of the blast.

No arrests have been made and this investigation is ongoing.
