On August 5, God chose another angel for His choir, Laura Ann “LaLa” Frederick, 53 of Mauriceville. A gathering of family and friends will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. A memorial service will begin at 7:00 p.m. The Rev. Kevin Brown, pastor of First Baptist Church in Mauriceville, will officiate.

A second memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9, at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Beaumont, with Father Jack Leighton officiating.

Born in Port Arthur on March 28, 1960, Laura was the daughter of Billy and Darlene (Richard) Knight. Laura was a 1978 graduate of Bridge City High School. She was a member of the AQHA and an active member of the Episcopal Church for many years. Laura loved to garden, her “fur” children, her horses and especially her grandchildren. Laura was very proud of her Cajun heritage and loved Cajun music. She was a caregiver to everyone, a true blessing to this world.

Preceded in death by her father, Billy Knight, Laura is survived by her husband, Wayne Frederick of Mauriceville; mother, Darlene Knight of Port Arthur; son, Bret Tibbetts and wife, Brittany of Mauriceville; daughter, Kelli Tibbetts of Port Arthur; step-sons, Wayne Allen Frederick of Mauriceville, Wade Alan Frederick and wife, Pam of Bullard, and Gary Duane Frederick and wife, Melissa of Pflugerville; and step-daughter, Nicole Byrd and husband, Alan Walton of Colmesneil.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Audrey Plock of Nederland, Austin Schelper and Kaleigh Adams of Mauriceville, Mason and Taylor Frederick of Bullard, Andrew and Samantha Byrd of Colmesneil, Katelyn and Korbin Frederick of Pflugerville; one great-grandchild, Aurora Frederick; brother, Lewis Knight and wife, Linda of Kingwood; and sister, Susan Byrom and husband, Tim of Beaumont.
