Robert William Wheat Sr., 74, of Bridge City passed away on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont. He was a native of Lufkin; born on June 22, 1939 to parents, Marguerite Wheat and Joe Canada Wheat Sr.

He was a lifelong resident of the Orange area, and retired from Chevron Chemical in Orange as a process operator. Robert was a member of Cove Baptist Church.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wheat Sr.; brothers, Joe Canada Wheat Jr. and I.D. Wheat.

He is survived by his children, Rebecca Bradley and husband, Ronald of Orange, Robert W. Wheat Jr. and wife, Sarah of Killeen, Randy Wheat and wife, Erin Wheat of Bridge City; six grandchildren, four great grandchildren, and one on the way.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm, at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, at 1:00 pm at the funeral home, with the Rev. David C. Millner officiating. Burial will follow Thursday afternoon at White House Cemetery in Lufkin.
