Ruben L. Stringer

Ruben L. Stringer, 79, of Mauriceville died Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 at The Medical Center of Southeast Texas in Port Arthur.

A native of Sabine County, he was a longtime resident of Mauriceville. Ruben was a agricultural teacher for 54 years. He taught at Hyatt High School in Fields, La., Hamshire-Fannett High School and Little Cypress-Mauriceville High School. He received his Masters Degree from Sam Houston State University and is a member of the Sam Houston Alumni Association. Ruben was a member of the Soil and Water Conservation District Region 9 and was a member of Silver Oaks Baptist Church in Mauriceville, where he was the Sunday School Director. He served his country in the US Army Reserves.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013 at First Baptist Church of Mauriceville, with burial to follow at Wilkinson Cemetery in Mauriceville.

Ruben is survived by his son Kenneth Stringer of Mauriceville; daughters Debbie Turner of Mauriceville, and Kathy Dawson of Midlothian; sisters Nancy Pickering and Reba Gary both of Jasper; nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
