Man arrested for murder in Orange

According to Capt. Cliff Hargrave of the Orange Police Department,officers responded to a report of a car fire at 11:51 p.m., Monday, Aug. 26, at the dead end of Adams Street (700 block). Upon arrival officers discovered a 2008 Chevrolet Impala on fire. An officer discovered an unresponsive subject in the front seat of the vehicle and removed him. The Orange Fire Department extinguished the flames. The subject was transported to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital Orange where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Subsequent investigation revealed the victim died of a gunshot wound. He was identified as Dominique Marquis Janise, 19, from Orange.

Tuesday, Aug. 27, detectives from the Orange Police Department identified a suspect and obtained a Murder arrest warrant for Rashawn Dewayne Morris, 17. The warrant was signed by Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Judge David Peck. At approximately 11:30 p.m. the suspect was arrested and placed in the Orange County Jail.
