Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, in conjunction with Orange County Livestock Association Show, will host a canning show at the Mauriceville Community Center.

We are encouraging entries in the Youth Canning and Food Preservation Division from participants under age 18, but still enrolled in school. To win, entries must follow the same guidelines as adult entries. We encourage families to cook and can together as a family project.

There are no entry fees, and participants are limited to one entry per division.

Entries will be received between 9:00 am to 10:00 am, Saturday, Oct. 19, at the Mauriceville Community Center. Judging will begin at 10:15 am.

Entry divisions and quantity to bring include: canned low acid vegetables, one pint or oone quart; canned fruits and tomatoes, one pint or one quart; sweet spreads, one half pint or one pint; pickles and relishes, one pint or one quart; meats, one pint or one quart.

For a complete listing of rules and entry, contact the Orange Extension Office at 882-7010.
