Garlan Roy Franklin, 72, of Buna, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 3, at his residence.

Funeral Services will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, at Claybar Funeral Home in Orange with Pastor Steve Neesley officiating. Entombment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Serving as pallbearers will be Randy Franklin, Wade Barron, Kody Fisette, Joshua Sims, Jess Garcia and Tyson Pitre. Honorary pallbearers will be Thom Seeber and James Ingalls.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.

Born in Orange on Oct. 30, 1940, Garlan was the son of Valray and Gertrude (Coffee) Franklin. He was a retired Supervisor at Bayer Corporation and was a Deacon at Marksville Baptist Church. He was a very loving husband and father who was always willing to help anyone whether they were friends, church members or anyone else. Garlan never knew how much he was loved. He was loved for all his kindness and strength. He greatly influenced many people’s lives just by the way he lived his own.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Valray and Gertrude Franklin; brother, Wesley Kay Franklin; brother and sister-in-law, Bernie and Berna Franklin and his very special aunt, Berlie Coffee.

Garlan is survived by his wife, Glenda Franklin; daughter and son-in-law, Ramona and Thom Seeber; son and special daughter-in-law, Randy and Teresa Franklin; and daughter and son-in-law, Nacole and Wade Barron.

He is also survived by his six grandchildren, Amber Garcia, Tyson Pitre, Carrie Ingalls, Joshua Sims, Lindsey Cormier and Kody Fisette; five great-grandchildren, Gavin Garcia, Gracie Ingalls, Jamie Ingalls, Tyson Joseph Pitre and Jace Garcia; brother and sister-in-law, Ronny and Connie Franklin; and sister-in-law, Olly Franklin.
