Traffic stop leads to out of state arrest

On Thursday Aug. 29, at 3:00 PM, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Highway Patrol Unit initiated a traffic stop on eastbound IH-10, near the 860 mile marker.

The vehicle which was stopped was transporting three vehicles on a trailer. During the traffic stop, consent to search the vehicles was given. During the search of the vehicles, Sergeant Sorge and Deputy Perkins located a large quantity of cocaine hidden inside a rear differential on one of the transported vehicles. The Cocaine HCL located inside the differential weighed approximately 60 pounds and was wrapped in 24 wrapped bundles. It was determined that the Cocaine has a street value of approximately $700,000.

The driver of the transport vehicle advised that he was hired to transport the vehicle from Houston to a location in Georgia. He advised that the vehicle belonged to Jorge Trujillo.

Sergeant Sorge contacted agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration to assist in the multi-state investigation. DEA Agents met with Sergeant Sorge and Deputy Perkins and they agreed to adopt the case for Federal prosecution. The driver of the transport vehicle was released and allowed to continue on his route with the vehicles, minus the narcotics, to the destination in Georgia. Sergeant Sorge and Deputy Perkins flew to Atlanta, GA to meet with DEA agents there to participate in a controlled delivery of the narcotics to the recipients in Atlanta.

Once in Atlanta, a controlled delivery was arranged by DEA Agents. David Trujillo and Jorge Trujillo,were arrested by DEA Agents upon their receipt of the narcotics in Atlanta.
