Pinehurst Police Briefs

Officers from the Pinehurst Police Department responded to the following calls between Aug. 25 and Sept. 14:

Aug. 25:

Tommy Ray Verdine, a 38 year old white male, was placed under arrest in the 3100 block of Edgar Brown Dr., for two outstanding warrants issued by the Pinehurst Municipal Court.

Officer M. Dempsey responded to Concord Dr., in reference to the theft of a bicycle. Officer Dempsey later located the bicycle, which was being ridden by a black male juvenile. The juvenile was released to his mother and the bicycle was returned to the owner. Charges are pending.

Following a traffic stop on MacArthur Dr, Officer C.D. Cowart arrested William Londo, an 18 year old black male, for an outstanding theft warrant issued in Jefferson County.

Aug. 26:

Officer L. Roff, while on a traffic stop, arrested a white female for a parole violation. Darcy Woods, 34, was transported to the Orange County Jail for booking.

Aug. 27:

Officer L. Roff responded to the parole office located at 851 Dal Sasso Dr. in reference to warrant service. Blake Jonathan Burch, a 27 year old white male was placed under arrest for an outstanding parole warrant.

Officer L. Roff responded to the 3300 block of W. Park in reference to criminal mischief. The complainant advised that someone had “keyed” her car, causing damage to the paint on the driver side doors and trunk.

Aug. 28:

Officer L. Roff responded to the intersection of MLK Jr.Dr., and Strickland in reference to a hit and run accident.The vehicle and driver were soon located at a school in the area. A warrant check revealed the driver had outstanding warrants. Desiree Monique Miller, a 25 year old white female, was placed under arrest for warrants issued by the Pinehurst Municipal Court. No charges were filed in regards to the hit and run.

Sept. 1:

Officer J. Trussell responded to a vehicle accident in the 2300 block of MLK Jr. Dr. A vehicle failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic and struck a motorcycle.

Sept. 2:

Officer J. Trussell responded to the 1600 block of Shady Ln., in reference to a burglary of a habitation.

Sept. 3:

Officer C.D. Cowart responded to a private property accident in a parking lot in the 200 block of Strickland Dr.

Sept. 8:

Officer C.D. Cowart responded to a residence on Camelot Dr., in reference to a sexual assault.

Sept. 9:

Officer M. Dempsey responded to the West Orange Elementary School located at 2605 MLK Jr. Dr., in reference to the theft of copper wire.

Officer M. Dempsey received a report of harassment that is occurring at a residence in the 3800 block of Pheasant Dr.

Sept. 10:

Officer M. Dempsey responded to the parole office in reference to warrant service. Kelly Teal, a 61 year old black male, was placed under arrest for an outstanding parole warrant.

Officer M. Dempsey responded to a fast food restaurant in the 2300 block of MacArthur Dr. in reference to a counterfeit bill. The bill was collected and forwarded to the Secret Service.

Sept. 13:

Officer L. Roff met with a complainant in reference to the theft of a check. A check, made payable to a contractor, was stolen from a business in the 1900 block of Strickland Dr.

Sept. 14:

Officer C.D. Cowart conducted a traffic stop in the 3100 block of W. Martin St. A passenger, Marvin Gaye Cook, a 25 year old black male, was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant.
