Barbara Jean Weeks

Barbara Jean Weeks, 84, of Deweyville passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 at Beauregard Memorial Hospital in DeRidder, La.

A funeral service was held on Sunday, Sept. 22 at 2 pm at Dorman Funeral Home Chapel, with a gathering of family and friends from 12 noon until service time. The Rev. Bill Smith officiated. Burial followed at King Cemetery in Hartburg.

Barbara was a native and life long resident of Deweyville; born on Sept. 30, 1928 to parents Katie Emmer and Martin Emanuel Smith. She lived last few months in Merryville with her daughter. Barbara had worked as a nurse’s aid at Evening Roses in Port Arthur. She was a member of Pinehurst United Pentecostal Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Smith; sisters, Etta Lackey, Emeron Smith, Mary Corry, Faye Stovall, Vira Lyons; brothers, Arlis Smith, Jack Smith, Nealey Smith and Odie Smith.

She is survived by her daughters Glenda Townsend and husband, Robert of Orangefield, Shirley Heard and husband Levi of Merryville, La .; sister, Sadie Welch and husband, Lloyd of Orange; brothers, Arnold Smith and wife, Hilda of Starks, La., Frank Smith of Orange; grandchildren, Sherrie Loncon and husband, Mark of Little Cypress, Michelle Holle and Stephen of Beaumont, Jayna and husband, Joey Fenner of Orangefield, Dale Rose and wife April of Orange, Kim Brack and husband, Darwin of West Orange, Daniel Rose and wife, Marybeth of Little Cypress.

She also survived by her great-grandchildren, Morgan Fairchild, Lindsey Fairchild, Shelby Holle, Madelyn Holle, Jarod Fenner and wife, Christina, Jodi Fenner, Ashley Granger and husband, Ryan, Ryan Brack, Meagan Monceaux and husband, Keigan, Aaron Rose, Nathan Rose, Abigail Rose, Rachel Rose, Balyse Baker, Brayden Baker, Baylee Kibodeaux; great-great-grandchildren, Brayden Marus and Eli Monceaux.
