Vernon Hudnall

Vernon Arnold Hudnall Jr., 70, of Orange passed away on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013 Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013 at 2 p.m. at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Orange; The Rev. Tom Phelan will be officiating. Cremation was held under the direction of Dorman Funeral Home. A burial will be held at a later date by the family.

He was a native and lifelong resident of Orange, born on May 22, 1943 to the late Margaret Marie (Boudreaux) and Vernon Marie Hudnall Sr. He was of the Catholic faith and attended St. Francis Assisi in Orange. He had a great love for horses. Vernon was a loving person who will be missed dearly by all.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Hudnall; sister, Peggy Raymer; brothers, Joe Hudnall, Keith Hudnall.

He is survived by his daughter, Felicia Fisher and husband, Jim Bo of Jasper, Lydia Putman and husband, Jeff of Victoria, Lora Hill and husband, Charley of Corpus Christi; sons, Kenneth Hudnall, Larry Hudnall, John A. Hudnall all of Jasper, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters, Francine Coates and husband, Bill of Zavalla, Joyce Blanchette and husband, Lloyd of Orange; brothers, Felix Hudnall and wife Evelyn, Eric Hudnall and wife, Cindy, Mark Hudnall and wife, Anne all of Orange, two sisters-in-law, Becky Hudnall of Center and Kathy Hudnall of Orange.

Vernon was like a grandfather to me for a couple of years , I helped him with his horses often, Shiloh being my second favorite next to pepper the young palomino filly he had. (She was gonna be mine but he had to sell his horses). Vernon was a safe place for me as teenager escaping an abusive relationship- he always gave me his ear and as many hugs as i needed.
