Rachel Taryn Ford, 20, of Orange, passed away Friday, Oct. 4, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. Bill Collier, pastor of Liberty Baptist Church in Bridge City, and the Rev. Terry Wright, pastor of First Baptist Church in Vidor. Burial will follow at Orange Forest Lawn Cemetery in West Orange. Serving as Pallbearers will be Bill Stein, Jonathan Levins, Cody Stratton, Brandon Nash, Heath Parker and Blake Luquette.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Monday, at the funeral home.

Rachel was born on April 12, 1993, in Nederland and lived in Bridge City most of her life. She was the daughter of John Allen Ford, Jr. and Gail (Matthews) Ford.

Rachel attended Bridge City schools, and later attended Orangefield High School. She had been inducted into the National Honor Society and graduated with honors from Orangefield in 2011. She was currently attending Lamar State College – Orange.

Rachel is survived by her parents, John A. Ford, Jr. and wife, Melinda of Houston; mother, Gail Ford and husband, Steve Maddox of Orange; brother, Daniel Ford of Mesa, Az; grandparents, John A. and Geraldine Ford of Richmond and Ray and Delores Matthews of McLewis; aunts and uncles, Bill and Vicki Stein and Jeff and Nancy Matthews; numerous cousins and many friends who were her extended family.

Rachel had a profound love of all animals, and donations to a local animal shelter may be made in lieu of flowers.

Rachel’s time on this earth was short, but full.
