A 27 year old Vidor man was accidentally shot in the leg when he was cleaning a .22 caliber handgun, and the cylinder jammed.

The man told deputies from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office that when the cylinder jammed on the gun, he handed the revolver to his father, who attempted to clear the jam. According to both men, the handgun went off while in the father’s hand, and the bullet struck the son in the thigh.

The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont, and treated for non-life threatening injuries.
