H.B. “Curley” Lindsey

H.B. “Curley” Lindsey, 84, of Orange, died Saturday, November 2, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 7, 2013, in the chapel of Claybar Funeral Home in Orange. Officiating will be Deacon Eddie Blankenstein. Burial, with military honors, will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens near Bridge City.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Born on July 5, 1929, in Camden, Tennessee, Mr. Lindsey was the son of Herbert L. and Hattie Lorena (Fare) Lindsey. He was a long time resident of Orange and retired from DuPont Sabine River Works, where he was a supervisor.

Mr. Lindsey was a member of the United States Marine Corps. He served during the Korean War attaining the rank of Sergeant. He was a 60 year member of Madison Lodge 126 AF&AM where he was a Master Mason and was involved with DeMolay International which is part of the Masonic order, and he was a member of First United Methodist Church in Orange.

He had a love of sports and was a member of the West Orange-Stark Athletic Booster Club and served on the Board of Directors of DuPont Federal Credit Union.

Mr. Lindsey was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lindsey and his great granddaughter, Faith McGalin. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Thomas Lee, Carolyn and Roy Barfield, Anita and Ron Lake, all of Orange and Elizabeth and John Blackstock of Lumberton.

Also surviving are his grandchildren and their spouses, Lindsey and Brittany Lee, Erin and Manuel Godina, Robert and Chelsi Barfield, Timothy and Melissa Barfield, James Michael and Courtney Simon, Derrick and Ashley McGalin, Duston and Lori McGalin, Christopher McGalin and Jaxson Blackstock; and great grandchildren, Molly Lee, Jaci Barfield, Bryce Barfield, Samantha Simon, Macy Mae Simon, Kynslee McGalin and Kamden McGalin.

Pallbearers will be Lindsey Lee, Robert Barfield, Timothy Barfield, James Michael Simon, Derrick McGalin, Duston McGalin, Christopher McGalin and Jaxson Blackstock. Honorary pallbearers will be Erin Godina, Neil Burrell, U.B. Samuel, Dexter Bassinger, and Bobby Bernard.
