Joe Max McKnight, 77, of Vidor, went home to his Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 15, at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

He was a native of Sacul, TX; born Sept. 17, 1936 to the late Aaron Oscar and Lula Mae McKnight. He had lived in the Orange area since 1958, and was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church. He was a Baptist Minister, ministering around the world. His last church he was a pastor at was Central Baptist Church. Mr. McKnight was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be missed dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sons, Aaron Lynn McKnight, Alvin Lee Miller; brothers, Dan McKnight, Billy McKnight; grandsons, Jason and Jeremy Vercher

He is survived by his wife, Myrtle McKnight of Vidor; daughters, Gladys Ross and husband, Clyde of San Leon, TX, Connie Bankston and husband, Woody of Gillis, LA, Linda Holder and husband, Charles, and Lois McCullough and husband, Lyn, all of Orange; son, Joe Allen McKnight of Dayton, TX.

Also left to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Dennis Eugene Bankston, Brandy and Jimbo Vercher, Angela Clifton, Mandy Thomas, Aaron Lynn McKnight Jr., Cristina McKnight, Shane and Tiffany McKnight, Darren and Gary Gardner, Meagan and Charlie Holder; and numerous great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, Nov. 16, from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Sunday, Nov. 17, at 2:00 pm at the funeral home, with the Rev. Fred Yount officiating. Burial will follow at Autumn Oaks Memorial Park.
