DPS investigating Jasper County hit and run

The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating a hit and run crash that occurred between the hours of 2:30 and 3:00 am Sunday morning just north of Jasper.

Troopers in Jasper county responded to a report of the accident on US 96 north of Jasper near Solley’s Liquor Store. The victim was walking in the northbound traffic lane of US 96 when a vehicle struck her from behind. The victim, 38 year old Deborah Loftin of Newton, was struck in the right shoulder, and is currently in the Intensive Care Unit at St. Elizabeth hospital in Beaumont.

Troopers are looking for a 2007-2008 Ford truck with extensive damage to the driver side near the outside mirror. The model of the truck will be either a F250, F350 or F450. The color of the vehicle is unknown.
