Mary Maxine Hebert Tankersley

Mary Maxine Hebert Tankersley, 85, of Willis, Texas, formerly of Orange, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, Nov. 29, 2013. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 4, from 5 pm until 9 pm at Dorman Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Eldon Reeves and the Rev. Darrel Orange. Burial will follow at Bob Herrin Cemetery in Bon Weir.

Maxine was born on Sept. 28, 1928, in Mauriceville, to the late Alma (Herrin) and Gail Miller. She lived most of her life in the Orange and Deweyville area; the last two years in Willis. She graduated valedictorian of her 1947 Mauriceville High School Class. She retired from Weingarten’s after 30 years of service. She was an active and faithful member of Deweyville United Pentecostal Church and also enjoyed making Christmas ornaments and doing crafts. Maxine was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents and first husband, Clarence Hebert; second husband, John Tankersley; sister, Velma Klipstein; and brothers, Raymond, Wayne and Jackie Miller.

She is survived by her children, Milton Hebert and his wife, Becky of Brenham, Linda Faye Hebert of Willis, Pat Nance and husband, Skipper of Willis; five grandchildren, seven great -grandchildren and one great-great- grandchild. She also survived by her brothers, L.G. Miller and wife, Viana of Bridge City, Floyd Miller and wife, Geneva of Hot Springs, Ark., and sister, Melba Pemberton and husband, Jimmy of Bryan.
