The Orange Police Department, Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance, responded Monday November 15th to a two vehicle accident on N. Hwy 87 at Bear Path.

A 2002 four door Hyundai, was being driven by Barbara G. Pope, 63, of Orange.

The investigation shows that Pope failed to yield to an oncoming vehicle while turning left from N. Hwy. 87 onto Bear Path. The other vehicle was a 1998 Mercury Mountaineer.

The Orange Fire Department had to the jaws of life to open the doors of the Hyundai and extricate Pope. She was conscious and alert in the beginning of the extrication, but soon after became unresponsive.

Pope was transported to Memorial Hermann Baptist Hospital in Orange where she died.

Pct 4 Judge Price has ordered an autopsy.
