Thelma Brown, 81, of Orange, passed away Saturday, Jan. 4, at Harbor Hospice in Beaumont.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm, Wednesday, Jan. 8, at Claybar Funeral Home Chapel in Orange. Officiating will be the Rev. David Milner, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church in West Orange. Burial will follow at Jett Cemetery in Orange.

Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, Tuesday at the funeral home.

Born in Orange, July 24, 1932, Thelma was the daughter of Ike Elmore and Minnie (McCarver) Elmore. She worked as a housekeeper at the Holiday Inn for 17 years, enjoyed spending time at home with her what-nots, and on her porch with her plants. Thelma was the glue of her family, always putting others before herself.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, C.W. “Bub” Elmore; and daughter-in-law, Darlene Brown.

Thelma is survived by her sons, Revel Brown, Jr. of Sulphur, La., Robert Brown, Sr. and wife, Billie of Vidor, and James Brown, Sr. of Orange; grandchildren, Robert Brown, Jr., Darla Davis, Revel Brown III, Jennifer O’Keefe, Monica Saurez, and James Brown, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; and sister, Velma Odom.
