Officer Mike Dempsey celebrated his retirement from the Pinehurst Police Department Thursday, Jan. 30, in the Pinehurst council chambers. He is a 36 year veteran of law enforcement, and is a former patrol captain of the Orange Police Department.

He has been with Pinehurst full time since 2009. He plans on remaining at the Pinehurst Police Department on a part time basis but wants to concentrate the majority of his time with family. Chief Hanauer stated in a speech that Officer Dempsey has always been the “go to guy” since joining the Pinehurst police department, and says he will be greatly missed.
