Join the Art Museum of Southeast Texas (AMSET) for a mystifying wine tasting fundraiser, A Vintage (mystery) Affair at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21.  In its third year, this artfully crafted fundraising event will be chaired, once again, by AMSET’s very own illustrious oenophiles, Lori and Mike Lockwood.

A Vintage (mystery) Affair will offer an assortment of wine varietals with an interesting range of flavor profiles paired with hors d’ oeuvres, gourmet chocolate, cheese, and crackers for the enjoyment of both the seasoned oenophile, as well as those new to the world of wine. From light whites to full bodied red wines, guests are encouraged to entice their palettes while sampling a broad spectrum of vintages and share in the intrigue that surrounds the timeless craft of winemaking.

This year’s event will add a mysterious twist, a puzzling new component to the tasting experience – hence the new name. A blind bottle mystery tasting will be offered with eight different extraordinary wines to taste. Imbibers will be asked to guess and carefully evaluate the varietal, maker, year and price of each wine with tasting notes. After all eight wines have been tasted, votes will be cast for favorites, and the mysterious wines will be revealed.

“This evening will offer patrons an opportunity to sample a wide selection of great wine from several different winemakers carefully selected and paired with delectable gourmet delights,” said A Vintage Affair 2014 Co-chair Mike Lockwood. “Guests are encouraged to enjoy the night’s selections and learn more about selecting the perfect accompaniment for their own special occasion.”

Combining fine wine with premium gourmet delights, an artful ambiance and live musical entertainment provided by acclaimed vocalist and pianist Kay Miller, A Vintage Affair is sure to be a wine lover’s paradise.

Funds raised from this decadent collaboration of fine art and wine will benefit AMSET’s exhibition and education programs. So challenge your taste buds, and join AMSET for this night of fine wine and comradery.

Admission to A Vintage Affair is limited, so advanced reservations are recommended. Pre-sale reservations are $35 per person and can be purchased online at or by calling (409) 832-3432.  Guests are also welcome to purchase reservations at the door for $40 per person.
