It seems the Orange County Convention & Expo Center is trying to get more bang for their bucks with new rental rates.
The Orange County Commissioners’ Court approved the requested rate change, made by Sabrina Gray, event coordinator for the center, at their regular meeting Monday morning. She said the changes are necessary to remain competitive with other venues.
Gray explained she redrawn the ballroom into four different sections to determine pricing. For instance, Ballroom Option 1, 10,800 square feet, for the weekend from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Friday through Sunday, the former price to rent the entire ballroom, was $1,500. It is now $1,000. Rates for nonprofits is $500.
Weekdays from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m., Monday through Thursday, the rate is $900 for the commercial rate and $450 for the nonprofit rate.
The hourly rate is determined at a minimum of four hours at $75 an hour between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday, There is no nonprofit rate.
The hourly rate is at the discretion of the OC event coordinator, Sabrina Gray. An event may be scheduled on a recognized county holiday. The rate will be charged at 1.5 times the normal rate.
Ballroom Option 2: 8,100 square feet, is $800 for the commercial rate and $400 for the nonprofit rate for the weekend. Weekdays are $725 for commercial and $363 for nonprofit.
Ballroom Option 3: 5,400 square feet, is $600 for commercial and $300 for nonprofit for the weekend. Weekdays are $500 for commercial and $250 for nonprofit.
Ballroom Option 4: 2,700 square feet, is $400 for commercial and $200 nonprofit for the weekend. Weekdays are $275 for commercial and $138 for nonprofit.
For conference rooms, The DuPont Room: 841 square feet, is $275 for commercial and $200 for nonprofit form 8 a.m. to 10 p.m., all day on Mondaythrough Sunday.
The rate during office hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday through Sunday, is $175 for commercial and $100 for nonprofit. Evening rates, 5 p.m. until 10 p.m., Monday through Sunday, is $175 for commercial and $100 for nonprofit.
Conference Room #2: 741 square feet, is $275 for commercial and $200 on weekends, $175 for commercial and $100 for nonprofit during office hours and $175 for commercial and $100 for nonprofit during the evening.
The hourly rate is determined at a minimum of two hours at $35 an hour between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, There is no nonprofit rate.
Other rental charges include:
Chairs at $.50 each and 500 available
60-inch Round Table at $6 each and 59 available
8-foot Rectangular Table at $4 each and 126 available
Plate Fee at $.50 per person
Security Deposit of $300 and is refundable
Warming Kitchen Use is $250
Self-Catered Fee is $100
An Extra Hour is $100 and no later than 1 a.m.
Gray said there will be a floor cleaning fee included in the basic rental.
Only preferred caterers who meet the center’s criteria may use the warming kitchen. Some events, however, will be self-catered with limited use of the kitchen.
